| How little we know is a realization that downs only after we understand that an unknown, yet inviting world exists, beyond our ken, outside our domain of expertise. That is what I precisely believed during the twilight months of my undergraduate studies.
Academic background
I did my schooling at Geetanjali Public School. Which enabled me to hone my cerebral by exploiting my inner talents and stimulating my zeal of achieving the desired aim in academic backgrounds.
I have received strong grounds in mathematics, physics and chemistry, having been able to do my intermediate in one of the best colleges, St. Joseph's Junior College. I believed education is like an edifice, erected up on strong rudiments, constructed by cementing fundamentals and plastering on technical and practical skills gained during our lifetime.
Aurora Degree College
which maintains the record of costliest laboratories and efficient inculcation, has perfectly shouldered the responsibility of structuring the foundering of that edifice, my consistent urge through my college days to be a participant in the technical revolution, which has held my fantasies during my school days, made me to choose Bachelor Of Science as my under graduation course, without any reservation.
While at school, I was always the topper and had always been intrigued by science. I won prizes in government journals in sports at district level.. I stood third in my undergraduate class of 65 students and consistently maintained good academic records.
Reasons for undertaking graduate study
After attending lectures on various subjects experienced personnel from different parts of the country during the course tenure and interacting with seniors I realized that apart form the technical field a student must have the knowledge of management side as well. What I had learnt in my under graduate study was only the tip of the iceberg. I found that this level of education was woefully inadequate to deal with the more complex problems, and I am yet to be cognizant with the seemingly abysmal depths of this course. As this course curriculum contains Computer Subjects as well, Computing Information Engineering/ Software Technology will certainly help me and provides an opportunity to be enlightened on the exogenous details of developments. So as to widen my ken on the subject and build a concrete base in this chosen field of study.
My preparedness
I am of the view that any kind of detailed study requires a strong fundamental knowledge. I am confident that my under graduate course work had prepared me with necessary skills and background for graduate study. My interest in the subject, strong grasp of the field and focused outlook gives me the confidence to pursue a course in Computing information Engineering. I am tendentious, perspicacious, motivated, organized and have the aptitude of independent research. I am also proficient in operating systems like ORACLE, WINDOWS and programming languages like C.
Career goals
I would like to study in an institution where there is a lot in interaction between the men working on the subject in the industry and where research is being carried out round the clock. After carrying out an extensive research on the education program, type of atmosphere, core of subjects, scope of gaining knowledge, effective inculcation and geographic location of various universities which engaged my entice, I came to conclusion that your university is the apt place to make my dreams come true.
Conclusion
Only your shrewd judgment of my admission into MS in your esteemed university will quench my thirst for knowledge in the relevant course I am looking for. I will work with dedication coped with the extensive research facilities available at your institution and contribute my mite both as technologist and as an active researchers. I will live up to the reputation built by the leading lights of your esteemed institution, which would be mine too, if given an opportunity.

INTRODUCTION
It is with sincere sense of appreciation towards the opportunity rendered to me that I pen down this statement. Education is a tool that puts one on a fast track to acquire Knowledge and Personality that sets one apart from the crowd. MBA is all about persistent implementation of what a person perceives from his surroundings and is perhaps the most efficient and fruitful path for a person with penchant to enhance his life's standards as well as his surroundings. And to attain this, selecting BCom as my career was a stepping-stone.
A revolution is taking place today in the way human's access, learn, and interact with information. New technologies and innovations are evolving at a rapid pace. Mechanics play a vital role in the industries, which requires lot of skills and practical experience and good theoretical knowledge, and I strongly believe an international Master's program will make me acquire these skills. In this context, I would like to present a brief statement of my interest, technical skills and professional and educational goals.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Through out the days of my under-graduation in Mechanical Engineering at C.R. Reddy Engineering College affiliated to Andhra University, one of Premier institutes in India, I realized that the unlimited scope and innumerable fields, in which Mechanical Engineering knowledge is applied, has a wide range of research and career options. I learned Programming languages like C & C++ along with Designing packages like AUTOCAD The More I dived into that ocean of knowledge more was the realization of the adage.
EXPERIENCE
As a part of the practical training requirements of my bachelors' degree, I worked on a project under the guidance of Prof. Kona Naringa Rao at Steel Plant in Condition Monitoring in reducing noise pollution, then understood the nature of work and the responsibilities of a Mechanical Engineer,I made up my mind to pursue M.S. In addition to this I also have experience as a Junior Engineer in Kakinada Sea Ports This work enabled me to gain significant experience in handling projects and also a thorough practical refreshment of my understanding in several theoretical concepts. I have also learned new subjects in computer science in order to apply this in Mechanical Applications.
CAREER GOALS
During the course of organizing a National workshop on the interaction between institution and industry called III-ES( Industry Interaction- Role of Engineering Students) , I happened to visit several small scale & heavy industries in and around the city of Vishakapatnam . Though, I am well versed with Mechanical packages and proficient in several areas of computer science, I have lacked an opportunity for full-scale research or professional activity. Therefore, I would like to pursue research in Mechanical Engineering recent developments and thereby enrich my knowledge. Thus, I would like to emphasize at this point that the master's program at your university is highly appealing to my interest and I believe strongly that my working in the course can help me establish for myself a distinguished stand in research and professional activities in the field of my interest.
Eagerly looking forward to joining the intellectual environment of excellence at your university.

Education, the fundamental tenet I believe in, is an incessant quest for realizing the enormous potential that an individual is inherently endowed with, through the medium of fitting instruction. In its broadest sense, learning and education - a continuous journey of discovery - enable the development of a person's capabilities as a complete individual, in a direction where his gifts and talents lie.
Sixteen long years of this voyage I spent, in absorbing the basics of Sciences, Humanities, Mathematics and Languages, have paved way for a slow transition from the comprehensive to the concentrated as I chose my future course of learning to correspond to my professional interests when I step into a professional course, and at the same time exposed me to a wide range of possible avenues I could explore, thus, gave me the opportunity to discover my affinities. At this juncture, I can claim to have judiciously chosen the path for my future as had been indicated to me by my aptitude, derived from the results of my schooling and my personal liking. |
| |
| |
Why do I need to take a graduate course?
In the odyssey of my education, the role played by my family in shaping my ideas has been paramount. Their support and encouragement have enabled me to develop an insatiable quest for gaining knowledge. This and the interaction with my teachers and professors have instilled in me a deep sense of respect for the value of education and its application for directly useful purposes as an applied science. Thus, my course of study, as a natural consequence, was inclined towards choosing Engineering; choosing Computer Science and Information Technology Engineering in my undergraduate study comes out of a more specific interest I always nurtured during my school days. This choice was one I was always proud of, as it was a major stride I had taken in the process of learning to further my quest for acquiring knowledge in the field that forms the foundation that the technology of the world runs on.
During my undergraduate years, I have observed on various occasions that there existed a wide enough rift between learning and implementation at that level, to hugely distance an Engineering Student from the Professional Engineer that he is meant to be. While the undergraduate courses enable a student to grasp the fundamentals involved in a particular discipline of Engineering, they do not present an opportunity to learn the ropes of the technologies that are current within the industry. Therefore, while a Bachelor's degree provides a sound alternative to taking a direct leap from Schooling fundamentals to industry standards, it is still insufficient for an Engineer to make it out in the Professional world. I feel the need to take up Graduate Study for the following reasons, |
| |
 |
It would take me closer to the kind of technical expertise I require, to fulfill my professional desires. |
 |
It would enable me to specialize and carry out research activities in one specific area of Information Technology engineering that I am engrossed with. |
|
| |
| This would, I believe, be to my advantage in a world where a man is not considered competent enough if he knows a little of everything, until he can master everything about a little.
What are my Academic and Research Interests?
R ight from my childhood I had made it a point to buy and read books, and informative books in particular. Though these books answered many of my questions, they gave rise to many more unanswered ones. The books I read said that there were people whose job was to 'find' answers to these yet unanswered questions, but I didn't quite understand how these people 'found' answers after some 'puzzling' activity. It seemed as if they were 'creating' knowledge, and I wanted to be a part of this 'answering group'. The analysis of complicated design procedures and invariantly their simplification which is a cognitive challenge, has kindled an interest in me. It was this natural attraction towards cognitive applications that convinced me to take an academic interest in the subject of Design Analysis. Fascinated by every facet of Design analysis, I was attracted to the domain of Design and Analysis. My guidelines, as always, steered my affinities towards areas which were easily accessible to the common man and had wide-ranging applications, supporting my view that education should help in applying science to various fields in the form of technology - the technical means people use to make their lives easier and better.
What effort have I made towards my goal?
Gaining absolute knowledge in a specific field requires a concrete construction of its groundwork and an effort to achieve "The 100%". It was this will to learn that had propelled me at every stage of my continuing education and made me believe that the right to dream belongs to the person who toils to achieve it.
In my undergraduate study, not only have I ensured that I approach the prerequisites of my proposed research area with due conviction, but also got trained in premier institutions such as RAM INFORMATICS on the programming and operation of the E-SEVA Project which is a state government's Project. I also attended a coaching program, at JB Technologies, on the subject -C, C++, COBOL, and in SHIVAM INFOTECH in ORACLE,PL/SQL, VC++, VB, JAVA, specializing in modeling, analysis and implementation. Along with this, the T op5 position I hold in my undergraduate class (on an overall basis) backed by my consistent performance and well organized study habits in the undergraduate study have amassed into a significant number of drops which aim to form an ocean of requisites of a true professional.
In support to my interest in the subject, I am doing state government's project under a company known as RAM INFORMATICS based on "Implementing JSP for the development of APTRANSCO PROJECT " for three months, under the guidance of Team Leader Mr. Daneal Manohar, who holds an erudite authority on the subject. I have kept myself a fresh of all related and emerging concepts, which have fostered my technical knowledge base in the field of Java and Oracle.
A system of effective communication is of paramount importance in today's modern working environment, not just to scientists and engineers but also to every professional. Technical knowledge alone doesn't bring out the best in a person. I realized this very early on and worked duly to hone my communicative abilities and interpersonal skills. I have learnt to communicate clearly for success and developed the ability to read and listen carefully with an eye and ear for fine points and subtle distinctions. I also find myself fairly competent in instructing others and working in groups while handling projects.
I am sure that I have followed a definite and planned procedure in marshalling the varied requirements and ushered myself to see my ability to be able to do justice to an area that I have been passionately interested in for the last four years.
Why do I need to take up this course?
I feel that taking an MSC degree in management is a right choice where it would fetch me more theorotical and practical knowledge in business management field. Earning MSC degree in management could expand skill set and helps in preparing a Leadership Role.
Strengths in which I can prove myself
My aim is not to prove a specific number of years of work experience, but the breadth of professional experience. |
| |
 |
Opportunities to work in Teams. |
 |
Level of Responsibility and Progression |
 |
I will want to address the ways in which I will be able to make valuable, substantive contributions to the classroom despite fulltime work experience. |
 |
I can market myself to recruiters who are looking for professional experience, leadership potentional, personal excellence. |
 |
My basic strength is to prove the substantial internships, though not working as a fulltime executive, but working as a part-time executive for some organizations. |
 |

Why Bath University?
I was basing the choice of the University where I wish to pursue my Graduate study purely on the basis of what sort of Research opportunities I will be offered during my Graduate course. In this respect I found University of Bath ( Bath Business School ) to be one of the best options I could have. I have found the Department of Business school website a very helpful source of the information; I have been able to read about the research being conducted in various areas related to Management through this medium and I was impressed by and attracted to the options being presented. In addition, the natural and cultural ambience along with the right social mix provide a conducive atmosphere for a healthy body, mind and spirit, thus, acting as a true motivating factor, by making us feel at home. In case of my application to the Graduate School of Management being considered favorably, I shall strive to meet the academic standards of the University. I should consider myself fortunate if you present me the opportunity to pursue Graduate Study within my area of interest at Bath university.
When I look back, the motivation behind my urge to know, to seek and to succeed has been my penchant for incessant questioning and learning which started as simple curiosity, now has molded my entire career. Luckily for me, I have never stopped questioning. I never can. |

Communications in the present world has taken many forms some of whose possibility was never even thought of. This adds the need for creativity, the flow of thought in the direction anyone ever thought of. This aspect of development and the space for large improvement has grown in me a propensity towards the field of Communications . My years as an undergraduate student here have left me with a strong desire to pursue graduate study in Electrical and Computer Engineering. In my schooling days I was always fascinated by the small wonders like radios, televisions and wireless phones in every household, which always pulled my inquisitive strings and developed in me the desire to learn everything about them, that's when the idea to pursue a career related to the field of Communications was born. And it is with this same burning desire that I am intent on pursuing graduate study, which, I believe, is the stepping-stone to the successful career in this field that I had always dreamt of.
Joining the bachelor's degree program in Electronics and Communication Engineering at the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) College of Engineering, Hyderabad, India one of the premier universities in the country enabled me to clearly identify how I wanted my future to be shaped. I decided to channelize all my efforts towards mastering the subject curricula and attaining a thorough grasp of the fundamentals. I graduated out of JNTU in the month of May 2002. As I felt that taking the GRE while I was doing my Under graduation would not get my full attention towards either my course work or my preparation for the GRE, the point that I would not do justice to my abilities forced me to take the GRE after I finish my Under graduation.
I would like to present my past performance as my credentials for success in my future endeavors. My innate strengths have been my quantitative and analytical abilities, which instilled in me a special interest for mathematics and physics. I was placed in the top 0.8% of nearly 170,000 enthusiastic students in the entrance examination for Engineering. This performance helped me in getting admission in to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, one of the premier institutions for Engineering in India. The rigorous curriculum provided me with a strong and comprehensive background in my major E.C.E with courses like Analog, Digital and Advanced Digital Communications, Antenna and Wave propagation, Microwave and Radar Engineering, Electronic Devices and Circuits, Microprocessors and Systems Design, Signals and Systems and Digital Signal Processing. The related laboratory work developed in me, an appreciation for the repertoire of engineering principles and their practical relevance. To complement my undergraduate work I acquired proficiency in programming languages like C, C++ and JAVA.
My undergraduate study has enabled me to gain a thorough understanding of the various fields in Communications. I am particularly interested in the areas of Wireless Communications and Optical Communications. It appeals to me because of the scope it provides for faster, cheaper and more reliable means of communication and the avenues they offer for further research and experimentation and hence my papers and presentations: Technologies in Broadband and Wireless mobile: 3G wireless and beyond, A review of FEC in Optical Communications, All Optical Communications: How feasible is it, QOS in 3G Wireless Networks. The Project work as my course requirement done at the Electronics Corporation of India Limited (E.C.I.L) one of the premier research and development companies of the Government of India, dealt with understanding the process and means of communication in the Digital Loop Carrier (D.L.C) System, which is being researched, to be used in the Indian Telephone system. The project also valued Testing and Validation of the equipment, fault finding and correction as a part which needed Assembly Language Programming to write the Test Routines which were ran on the system for fault detection.
I decided that spending a year in a profession after under graduation would put me in a better position to understand where the prospects for future look bright. This in turn enlightened me about the skills, both theoretical and practical, that I need to acquire for making a good career for myself in the field chosen. However, a major accident in March 2003 delayed my plans for an indefinite period of time.
When the going gets tough, the tough get going - something that I firmly believe in. with a strong desire to pursue higher studies and the will to overcome any odds, I used the time during my painful recovery to prepare for the GRE and TOEFL exams, as well as refreshing my academic learning and keeping myself informed of the latest developments in the field of technology. This difficult episode only strengthened my commitment towards achieving my goals and rendered the ability to work ever harder.
I am confident that a graduate degree from West Virginia University would augment and streamline my existing abilities and help me realize my aspirations. West Virginia University 's insightful curriculum, excellent faculty and a unique blend of students from all walks of life seems a tailor made environment for my personality. I feel the course of study is distinguished for its high level of academic excellence and personal attention. I feel confident that the renowned faculty combined with the excellent research facilities at West Virginia University will surely enable me to gain my research objectives. I am very clear as to my career aspirations. Education I believe is a life long process. I therefore wish to pursue a Doctoral degree after my M.S and thereafter combine research and teaching as a career. I am sure that, under their guidance, I can contribute positively to the ongoing research. With my qualities of creativity, positive outlook, diligence, & determination, I am confident that I would be able to live up to your University's high expectations. I hope that my credentials are found worthy of admission with full financial aid. I look forward to an interesting and rewarding future through graduate study and research at West Virginia University.
Thank you for considering my application. |

In this essay I outline my academic and extra-curricular accomplishments. Also discussed are my career objectives and the motivation to pursue the graduate program in Telecommunications Engineering.
I completed B.E (Telecommunications) from Basavakalyan Engineering College in year 2003. During under graduation course I was attracted towards the Telecommunications course being offered by VTU (Visveswaraiah Technological University). Then I joined the engineering course and successfully completed with good percentage in academics.
The undergraduate curriculum in Telecommunications Engineering at Basavakalyan Engineering College, Basavakalyan, introduced me to a wide gamut of subjects, both in and outside the field. Various courses like Mobile communications, Digital communications, Optical fiber communications and Embedded controllers have provided me with a strong footing in the theoretical concepts of Telecommunication Engineering.
At Basavakalyan engineering college, Basavakalyan, I have received the best possible undergraduate education in Telecommunication Engineering in India. Throughout, my scholastic records and achievements have been outstanding. I have consistently ranked in the top 2% of the students of my class, in school, and consider the high point of my achievements as being ranked in the top 5% of more than one lakh students who wrote the Karnataka common Entrance Examination for admission in to under graduation.
Throughout my school and undergraduate education, I have been a keen participant in extra-curricular activities. Getting elected as the School Pupil Leader (Head Boys) helped me hone my organizational and interpersonal skills. At BEC, I have been involved in the Annual cultural Fest as Head of the Control Tent Team. I have also taken active part in dramatics and made my contribution to the Technology Dramatics Society (English chapter) at BEC, as its member and later as the President. I was also the member of the E-TEL zone at BEC where I had the opportunity to be involved in it's project's fest. I continue to be a member of the Help age Society of India, which provides palliative care to the terminally ill cancer patients.
The years of undergraduate education have been an enriching experience - both academically and otherwise, and I am determined to maintain the high levels of excellence throughout my career.
Purpose of Study & Professional Plans:
The boundless possibility of trying out and the instant knowledge of the outcome that stimulates one for further analysis of a rationale in question is what I find most appealing about Telecommunications. Keeping up an inquisitive and explorative attitude, I believe, leads to a constant learning process. This approach adds to the already immense potential for innovation that exists in this field.
As a student in the final year of undergraduate study for a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Telecommunications Engineering, I look to graduate study to refine my knowledge and skills in my areas of interest. I believe it will also serve to give direction to my goal of a career as a research professional at an academic or commercial, research-oriented organization. I intend to pursue an MS degree in order to reach that goal.
Academic Background & Research Interests:
In my undergraduate studies, I have benefited from the breadth of Visveswaraiah Technological University 's syllabi content that has given me a comprehensive exposure to the core areas of Telecommunications and a strong conceptual understanding of the same. In these four years of study, I have strived to maintain an approach of expending independent effort in all my endeavors. Learning by myself and sharing my knowledge with others has been most worthwhile, when comprehending a concept.
During the eight week Summer Training at the Development Consultants Ltd.,I was assigned to the technical field, where I received a detailed knowledge of the electronic circuits. As an Industrial Intern, I was assigned a project on intercom facility, which encompassed EPABX Design for various telephones respectively of 4 no's. My final year dissertation was DTMF (Dual tone multi frequency) remote control system using telephone line. This covered the design of DTMF decoder, BCD-to-7-segment decoder and ON/OFF control circuit.
In conclusion, I would like to add that the essence of University education lies in the synergetic relationship between the student and his department. I feel that graduate study at your University will be the most logical extension of my academic pursuits and a major step towards achieving my objectives. I would be grateful to you if I'm accorded the opportunity to pursue my graduate studies with financial assistance at your institution and am able to justify your faith in me.

During my undergraduate years, I have observed on various occasions that there existed a wide enough rift between learning and implementation at that level, to hugely distance a Computer Science from the Professional that he is meant to be. While the undergraduate courses enable a student to grasp the fundamentals involved in a particular discipline of Computer Science, they do not present an opportunity to learn the ropes of the technologies that are current within the industry. Therefore, while a Bachelor's degree provides a sound alternative to taking a direct leap from Schooling fundamentals to industry standards, it is still insufficient for a Computer Science student to make it out in the Professional world without a sound Management Values. I feel the need to take up Graduate Study for the following reasons, |
| |
|
It would take me closer to the kind of technical expertise I require, to fulfill my professional desires. |
|
It would enable me to specialize and carry out research activities in one specific area of Finance Management that I am engrossed with. |
|
My Undergraduate degree coupled with my Masters degree in Business Administration would work wonders in my future ambitious plans of setting up an Hardware Unit in my Country |

This would, I believe, be to my advantage in a world where a women is not considered competent enough if she knows a little of everything, until she can master everything about a little.
Right from my childhood I had made it a point to buy and read books, and informative books in particular. The analysis of complicated design procedures and invariantly their simplification, which is a cognitive challenge, has kindled an interest in me. It was this natural attraction towards cognitive applications that convinced me to take an academic interest in the subject of Finance Management. Fascinated by every facet of Management, I was attracted to the domain of Finance and Analysis. My guidelines, as always, steered my affinities towards areas which were easily accessible to the common man and had wide-ranging applications, supporting my view that education should help in applying science to various fields in the form of Management - the technical means people use to make their lives easier and better.
Gaining absolute knowledge in a specific field requires a concrete construction of its groundwork and an effort to achieve "The 100%". It was this will to learn that had propelled me at every stage of my continuing education and made me believe that the right to dream belongs to the person who toils to achieve it.
A system of effective communication is of paramount importance in today's modern working environment, not just to scientists and engineers but also to every professional. Management knowledge alone doesn't bring out the best in a person.
I feel that taking an MBA with Finance as Specialization is a right choice where it would fetch me more theoretical and practical knowledge in business management field. Earning a Management degree could expand skill set and helps in preparing a Leadership Role. |
